Hair Removal

Safe, effective hair removal is now within your reach. Removing unwanted hair from your face or body is now easier and more comfortable than ever before. Instead of shaving, tweezing, or waxing, and instead of going through painful electrolysis or laser treatments, you can now enjoy comfortable, long-term hair removal.

The Aurora hair removal system utilizes advanced technologies based on proven science. It treats unwanted hair safely, quickly and very effectively, eliminating the hair at root level and severely reducing re-growth through the use of Intense Pulsed Light.

What is Intense Pulsed Light?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology is a treatment breakthrough that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions, such as facial skin imperfections, the signs of aging, unsightly small veins, blemishes or unwanted hair. It offers a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, providing superior cosmetic results and outstanding satisfaction.

How is Hair Removal performed?
A gel is applied to the area to be treated and you will be given dark eyewear to protect your eyes. You feel the smooth, cold surface of the IPL head gently pressed against your skin as it applies pulses of light. You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band. An anaesthetic cream may be used, but is seldom required. Treatment is generally administered in a series of six to ten sessions that provide excellent long-term results, minimal adverse effects and high satisfaction. Treatments are booked half hourly or hourly, depending on your specific needs. Each treatment takes about twenty minutes.

Why are multiple treatments necessary?
Depending on the colour and thickness of the hair you are treating, and the severity of the individual problem, a series of six to ten treatment sessions may be recommended. You can return to work the same day and resume all your regular activities.

Dark hair responds to treatment by the Elos IPL/Laser. The light is attracted to the colour in the hair, damaging the papilla, or growing point. As hair grows in cycles, it needs to be treated at regular intervals to ensure a 70 to 80% hair loss over several treatments.

Are there any possible side effects?
Side effects are rare. You will experience some reddening and/or local swelling at the treatment site, but this typically goes away within hours. On rare occasions, clients may experience some pain, crusting, blistering or bruising, but this typically resolves quickly. The skin can become darker or lighter following treatment, but will generally return to normal within a few weeks. Limiting sun exposure before and after each treatment will minimize the risk of complications.
Following the treatment, you can generally return to work and resume all regular activities immediately.
